Continues from Part 5.
Office chair for Nikolai.
Water bottle cap
3mm drill bit
a piece of sturdy plastic – a plastic bin divider in my case. I wanted Nikolai’s chair to be on the small side, I think a chair a bit too small will add to comical effect. But still he needs to fit into it.
The plastic ball and socket tilt the seat into all directions. But if I drill into socket link and insert a screw, it will limit the range of tilting and the chair will tilt only backward.
Snip the ends – I don’t need them.
All unscrewed, I am preparing to threadlock all parts with J-B Weld Epoxy
Black leather (if you are shopping for leather, look for a softer kind – the keywords are “lambskin”, “soft”, “glove leather”, or you will get a hide unusable for miniature work). Ask your family for old gloves, wallets and jackets and check the charity stores for leather garments.
Punctured with an ice pick and sewn through with a needle and thread
The cushions are also sewn with a needle and thread. 2mm rattail cord to finish it off and hide the seams, also sewn to the leather and the ends and especially stubborn parts glued with Fabritac glue
Painted all the non-black parts with black acrylic paint
Next – computer desk, computer screens, etc.
If all goes as planned, Nikolai will be starring in a stop motion film.
A group of stop motion enthusiasts are making a collaboration stop motion project. Each of us take a “job” (script, storyboard, character concept sketches, puppet fabrication, props, animation, editing, music and foley, etc.). We work together to make a short film, and, in return, get the shared rights to the films – for promotion, experience or resume. No pay, just the rights to the video use.
If you would like to join us, please join the public Facebook Group So You Want to Make a Stop Motion Film.
Nikolai The Troll Group is currently a private group and will be opened for public once the film is made.
